It sounds ridiculously wholesome now, but choosing a film was an event in itself.

What began as one simple Netflix subscription that you could probably share with half your family has turned into a never-ending stream of Monzo notifications telling you another £10, £20, has just left your account.

And somehow, they always seem to come out a day before payday (meaning you’re left eating film for dinner while Netflix happily takes another £15).

Earlier this month, Netflix announced that it would be raising its prices by £2 across its plans.

The Standard with Ads plan has jumped 33%, from £5.99 to £7.99 a month. Standard without ads has increased from £12.99 to £13.99, while Premium has gone from £18.99 to £20.99 a month, an extra £24 a year for the latter alone.

Even extra members have been hit with a £1 price increase.

Disney+ Premium and Hulu Premium, the ad-free plans available to US subscribers, have both increased from $18.99 to $21.49 a month, a 13% rise.

Disney subscribers were also left scratching their heads after its user agreement notes that plans "may include limited promotional content, ads/promos before or after playback of content, clips and trailers for Disney content, products and services, in addition to branded or sponsored content. Live content or special events, including reruns, may include commercial breaks or commercial messages."

However, the updated agreement does not change the viewing experience for customers on Disney+ Standard or Premium plans. Similar provisions have appeared in previous agreements, with the latest changes simplifying some of the existing wording.

Im cancelling Peacock, Disney+, and HBO. I’ll sign up for them again in December for the holiday games and movies. I have Netflix and Hulu Live. All I need. The prices are getting outta control.

Imagine if enough people got tired of endless price increases and started buying DVDs, Blu rays and physical copies again. We could genuinely bring back neighborhood video stores and turn movie night into something you actually had to leave the house for. The old rental era had a…

My wife and I are going to to start buying dvds and vhs again. The streaming movie stuff is out of control. I’m not paying for Disney plus when I can buy 50 movies to rewatch whenever for $150 or something. Just not worth it.

We should make a push for mass cancellation of Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, Peacock, Paramount, HBO Max, Amazon Prime and Apple. They have all increased their prices as people are struggling to pay rent, groceries and gas.Guarantee you they'll respond to a massive boycott. All they…

yeah nah I’m cancelling all my shit besides YouTube at this point…constant price increases for the exact same service we’ve already been paying for is greed only capitalism can produce and I’m sick of the bullshit https://t.co/ptR2fjOfWN
