A new season means all kinds of new lil’ things to tackle.

As a Deputy Editorial Director for BuzzFeed’s shopping team, I love to get into the weeds of why a product’s worth the money by deep diving into customer reviews, and product-testing as much as possible.

Fall is basically the new New Year's now. Or at least that's how it's feeling this year, whether anyone in your household is going back to school or not. (I really do miss those days of picking out your new school supplies and notebooks for the new year.) But with changing seasons, schedules, and weather, there are all kinds of little problems that can pop up, from a drafty attic door to your pearly whites that are showing you switched to red wine for the season to all kinds of scalp buildup from a summer of dry shampoo. Fear not, (actually, save that for all your horror-moving watching), because we rounded up some problem-solvers to help you get through fall with far fewer hitches. I can't promise zero hitches, now. 

Promising review: "The attic drop-down door in the home I'm renting is located in the interior of the home in the bedroom hallway, plus the door is warped, leaving a half-inch gap open. In this flaming hot summer, the heat was pouring into the hallway, and my AC ran 12 hours per day to keep the house reasonably cool. The thermostat is 3 feet from this attic door (poor design), which exacerbated the problem. Within five minutes of installing this, I noticed a complete change! I live in New York City, where, like many places, you can no longer get plastic bags at a store, and there's a fee for any other kind of bag you'd get at the store. But the thing is, those plastic grocery bags make the perfect bin liners for my small trash can, and I cook at home almost every day, so I'm constantly taking out a bag of trash. So I'm constantly going through these small-scale bags, even make my mom save hers for me, and resigned to just storing them all within one big one in a ball underneath my kitchen sink after lackluster experiences with the IKEA bag dispenser, and this popular wall-mounted dispenser. But I think I may have found my product match with this beaut. As you can see, here's the mass of bags I had scurried away without a holder (Lysol can for scale), and I was able to fit 46 of them inside this holder. The product listing promises it'll hold up to 40. But I was determined and was able to fit all but 3 of my saved bags in there! It's super sturdy and stands up just fine in my cabinet when I reach in to pull out a bag. And it's pretty slim so I didn't have to shuffle around my cleaning products as much as I assumed I would.

(Not much lint was pulled out, so maybe the dryer sensor gave a false alarm.) I felt a small investment in a brush such as this is better than paying for a future vent cleaning. This was an impromptu purchase once I realized just how bad my circa-2018 Asos midi coat was looking. It was SERIOUSLY fuzzy, and I'd been walking around in it, not even realizing it. How embarrassing for me! So I took this fabric shaver to it while I finally watched Lost about a year ago. It's a little loud, but it did some WORK. Here's a pic of a sleeve where you can see the difference it's making and also a glamour shot of the gobs of lint and fuzz it's removed from the coat. I live in an apartment without a dishwasher, and I honestly use that as an excuse to order takeout food instead of cooking. But, as soon as I got my hands on a bottle of this stuff (regular Dawn is my go-to dish soap, BTW), I put it to use on both a saucepan I used to make homemade enchilada sauce *and* the casserole dish I baked those enchiladas, which had a ton of caked-on food. It really does work like I say it does! Like, scary well.
