A BBC team who came to a Greggs to talk to staff and customers about shoplifting were confronted by thieves openly stealing in front of them.

Two men with rucksacks did not bother to hide their faces as they ransacked the fridge for more, swearing angrily at a female worker who tried to stop them, at the outlet in Bearwood, near Birmingham.

Workers told the BBC the brazen 55-second raid was all in a day's work, with offenders targeting the outlet multiple times every day.

Greggs says it takes the industry-wide problem of shoplifting "extremely seriously", has enhanced security measures across its outlets and works closely with police.
