Based on the popular game show Let’s Make a Deal, this puzzle refers to the dilemma a contestant faces when given a choice between three doors, one of which hides the prize they want.

Behind one door is a car. Behind the other two are goats.

The contestant chooses one door, but it remains unrevealed. Monty then opens one of the two remaining doors, knowing which of the three doors hides the car. The contestant is then given a choice: stay with their original pick or switch to the other unopened door.

According to the logic behind the puzzle, the contestant has a better chance of winning if they switch. Here’s why:

The probability that the car is behind the contestant’s chosen door is 1/3.

The probability that the car is behind one of the other two doors is 2/3. 

Thus, over many repetitions of the game, switching wins twice as often as staying."
