The White House got drenched in mockery after it appeared to credit Donald Trump for a remarkably calm start to the 2026 hurricane season.

Chris Martz, a meteorologist who has described himself as the “anti-Greta Thunberg,” noted the lack of hurricanes in a viral post on X, saying “history has been made” because “no hurricanes have formed in the North Atlantic Ocean so far this year.”

The White House’s Rapid Response 47 account on X quote-posted Martz’s message with an eyebrow-raising response: “Thank you, President Trump!”

Thank you, President Trump! https://t.co/FDjngZItY6

The post came just two days after a federal judge ruled that the Trump administration had broken the law with its order to cut half the jobs at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Trump has previously called for FEMA to be shut down and argued that states should take greater responsibility for responding to disasters.

I had to double check to make sure this wasn’t a parody account https://t.co/0k3D0mEzQc

Actually the president has absolutely nothing to do with zero hurricanes in the Atlantic so far this year. Hope this helps! https://t.co/KsHNPQgPJI

Yes, thank you, President Trump—for personally intimidating the Atlantic Ocean into submission. Imagine being this fucking desperate to worship a politician that you give him credit for the weather. Absolute cult-brained dipshittery.

this implies trump is responsible for 2017 hurricane season https://t.co/HG1vIldJfe pic.twitter.com/qukMldm6Ir

It would be a major scandal if the Biden White House posted something like this https://t.co/bpqAxxwpo1

Welp, I'm out of jokes. https://t.co/bZKRfzAk5s
