Travelers Are Sharing The "Hidden Gem" Travel Destinations That Few People Actually Know About

“I’ve been to 70 countries now, and it’s genuinely one of my top 5 places I’ve ever been.” I’m a lifestyle and pet writer with over a decade of experience in copywriting, covering viral animal moments, well-being topics, and lifestyle trends. "Mexico is so often painted as only beaches and drunken tequila bar crawls, but it has SO MANY different amazing things to see and do. The nature is so diverse. There are obviously beautiful beaches, but outside the resorts, there are thousands of miles of untouched beaches. Snowy mountains, deserts, vast swaths of agricultural land, amazing indigenous traditions and cultures. Art. Food. History. So many people just go for the typical tourist/resort stuff and miss everything else!" "For me, it was all of Bolivia: La Paz, Santa Cruz, Samaipata, Sucre, Potosi, Sajama National Park, the Amazon, Amboro National Park, and then Salar de Uyuni on top of that. What a country." "Madagascar is having political issues right now, so I'd be careful. I’ve been there, and it rocked. I have an in-law from there. But I don’t know if I’d go right now." "I second this — the Baltics are so so underrated." "It's becoming less and less uncommon as a destination every year, especially São Miguel. There are a lot more flights there than, like, 5–10 years ago. The other islands are still less crowded." "Agreed. Hands down, the gorilla trek was the best experience of my life! I'll also add Rwanda. I was so impressed with the city of Kigali and the progress made (not saying this nation is perfect; it has a lot of political issues like many of its neighbors, but I was overall very impressed)." "I really loved Morocco! One of my favorite countries. I went to: Tangier, Chefchaouen (my favorite; it’s a blue city in the mountains), Rabat, Marrakesh, and Dakhla (out of this world; it’s a territory that’s being managed by Morocco in the Sahara but not officially theirs)." "I second this. We combined Transylvania with Maramures and had an incredible trip." "For one, Sofia is a great city — it's really vibey with actually quite a bit to see and do, and a perfect place to base yourselves. Plovdiv is really scenic and historic, too, and well worth the trip; Rila Monastery is pretty, but only really worth doing if you're also planning to see Rila National Park (which is stunning). 100% my favorite place in Bulgaria, though, was the Belogradchik Fortress in the northwest region of the country. I've been to 70 countries now, and it's genuinely maybe one of my top 5 places I've ever been; I'm honestly talking like world-wonder levels of impressiveness here."
