I like to write about spooky stuff, including *EEK* politics, as well as various lifestyle and pop culture topics.

Note: This post describes graphic and upsetting deaths caused by the 9/11 attacks. Please read with discretion.

Additional context: Around 30 million square feet of office space in Lower Manhattan was damaged or destroyed in the attacks. Downtown Kansas City has roughly 26 million square feet of office space.

Additional context: The announcement reportedly stated, "Your attention please, ladies and gentlemen. Building 2 is secure. There is no need to evacuate Building 2. If you are in the midst of evacuation, you may use the re-entry doors and the elevators to return to your office. Repeat, Building 2 is secure." This, along with security officers enforcing the announcement, caused many people who were actively evacuating to return to their offices.

"I lived a block away from a train station on Long Island when 9/11 happened. At night, the parking lot was always empty. I remember one night noticing how strange it was that so many people were still parked there. It took a couple of times seeing them there before I realized why. I can still picture it."

"Those people did not go to work that day to jump out of a building. Those people were killed."

"Michael Hingson, Roselle's owner, gave a lovely interview on the This Is Love podcast and wrote a book about her."

Additional context: As the chance of finding survivors grew slimmer over time, the dogs became discouraged. Their handlers staged "mock finds" to make the dogs feel successful. 🥺

"I can’t get my head around how people managed to survive a skyscraper collapsing on them."

"Going to add a comment here for anyone who hasn’t watched it, as a warning, you hear and see death. It captured many people’s last moments. So please keep that in mind before you decide to watch."

"At the 9/11 Museum, there's a section that plays audio of all the PASS devices going off at the site. I was overwhelmed, can't imagine how the recovery teams felt hearing that."

Additional context: Many cab drivers were discriminated against due to their race, religion, etc., at the time. Their willingness to help during a crisis that made them a target of hate adds another level of bravery to their acts.

Additional context: Sodhi is recognized as the first victim of a hate crime tied to the attacks. It is estimated that around 17 others died in a similar manner.

"O'Neill finally threw in the towel and retired from the FBI in late August 2001. To start his post-government life, he took a job as the director of security for the World Trade Center. Sept. 11 occurred when he was only two weeks on the job. He was last seen heading to the South Tower, likely to help with evacuation. He was killed when the building collapsed. His remains were recovered on Sept. 21."

Additional context: The woman's real name is Alicia Esteve Head (she made her false claims under the name Tania Head). There is a book and a documentary about her elaborate story.

Additional context: Many shows/movies were edited or had their releases delayed following 9/11. Some examples include Zoolander, Men in Black II, Friends, The Sopranos, and many others.
