“I’d cry before going into work because I’d see people my age on social media on yachts, in high-rises, with all these bags and purses, and think, ‘What am I doing wrong?’”

As a Celebrity Reporter, I cover everything from fashion and award shows to TV, film, and cultural conversations.

“What am I doing wrong?” Girl 21 year olds don’t go on yachts. Most 21 year olds are in customer service jobs. What an absolutely deluded thing to say. Cry me a river, you’re 21 and work at Home Depot. That’s not strange or abnormal AT ALL.

“I say it every time. Social media has ruined society. People watch other people live a certain lifestyle on social media then go into depression cause they aren’t living that lifestyle,” one user wrote. “This makes me very sad for 20 year olds. It wasn’t like this when I was 20,” another wrote.

“I know she’s just sharing her own experience but this is such a dangerous message for young minds to consume. It’s actually quite abnormal for a 21 year old to feel like they’re doing something wrong because they can’t afford a lavish lifestyle,” someone said, while one more person agreed, “Really and truly hate that we live in a world where a 21 year old thinks she’s a failure because a handful of other people her age are on yachts and buying expensive things, when 99% of the population is struggling financially.”

For context, Trinity recently revealed that her family struggled financially growing up, telling Interview magazine, “Growing up, I was fortunate to live the life that my mom provided, but also there’ve been times we’ve been close to being homeless, so I really want to give back to families that struggle.”
