Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson Ruled Out For Season Opener vs. Seahawks

The New England Patriots will be without one of their options in the backfield for Wednesday night's Super Bowl LX rematch against the Seattle Seahawks.ย
TreVeyon Henderson has been ruled out for the season opener after missing all three practices this week with an ankle injury.ย
Henderson suffered the ankle injury on Aug. 24 and hasn't practiced since. The Patriots also ruled out center Ben Brown with a knee injury, and no other players carry injury designations heading into Wednesday's game.ย
Henderson was a finalist for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last season, leading the Patriots in scrimmage yards and touchdowns. He rushed for 911 yards on 5.1 yards per carry and nine touchdowns, adding 35 receptions for 221 yards and a touchdown. The 39th overall pick in the 2025 draft out of Ohio State didn't miss a single game as a rookie, making Wednesday's setback a rare piece of adversity in his young career.ย
With Henderson sidelined, veteran Rhamondre Stevenson is expected to assume the lead-back role, a job he already took over down the stretch of New England's playoff run last season.ย
New England opens its 2026 campaign in Seattle after falling to the Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. Now, the Patriots will try to get off on the right foot without one of their offensive contributors from last season.
