White House AI Video Depicting Trump As Green Lantern Has Some Social Media Users Seeing Red

An AI video depicting President Donald Trump as Green Lantern has social media users seeing red. On Sunday night, the White House social media team posted an AI-generated video on X that showed the president using the DC superhero’s trademark green ring to build a green border wall and improve American manufacturing. The video caption featured Green Lantern’s longtime motto: “In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might beware my power... Green Lantern’s light!” In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might beware my power... Green Lantern's light! pic.twitter.com/mXWr0zeyLC Considering that the country is currently fighting a war with Iran that has increased costs and is attempting a trade war with Canada, many people on social media wondered if posting AI slop and memes should be the top priority of the Trump administration. Maybe, if you go far enough back in time, you can find a government or a leader crazier than this -- maybe -- but I guarantee there have been none as adolescent. https://t.co/NUs1WM50Nf This is some of the stupidest crap I’ve ever seen. It’s actually funny and pathetic https://t.co/LqNE9hYDt2 Can we require routine drug tests for all members and staff at the White House? Seriously... You know a show is a hit when the White House twitter account creates slop that even the bleakest of minds could never have imagined. The fact this is the norm is beyond black mirror.Truly a fucking horrible, god-awful, time to be alive and to be an American. https://t.co/sTF0Di2JCf Checking in on @BrendanNyhan, who had coined the term Green Lantern Theory of Politics a while ago And now… https://t.co/xhNRkvRMQs pic.twitter.com/u7vI17hBKG The choice of Green Lantern for the video struck some as ironic, considering the new HBO Max hit series “Lanterns” has been accused by conservative media of being “woke.” As Fox News noted, it overhauls “a beloved character’s origin story to focus on modern racial discourse and privilege.” This may be the funniest self-own the White House has posted yet.You might want to read Green Lantern before turning Private Bone Spurs into one.The Green Lantern ring chooses people with extraordinary willpower who can overcome great fear. The original Hal Jordan was… pic.twitter.com/2mKqPsUOvY I wonder if he knows Green Lantern dies and gets his job taken by a black man https://t.co/8orALSPyPG this is actually a really good commentary on trump. since the green lantern rings's constructs are temporary, trump isn't actually fixing anything! just pretending to! https://t.co/04fRKW5yAN The Trump-as-Green Lantern slop is just the latest attempt by the White House to use pop culture as propaganda and to prop up its fearless leader’s fragile ego. In late July, the White House posted a video showing the president and his veep, JD Vance, in a “Rick and Morty”-inspired cartoon, while in March, it used a clip from the 2008 comedy, ”Tropic Thunder,” for a social media post designed to get Americans excited about going to war with Iran.
