This leads a group of astronauts, including Joseph “Coop” Cooper (played by Matthew McConaughey), to travel through space in search of a new home for humankind. How it ended: Cooper enters a black hole and lands in a 5th-dimensional tesseract, where he can see his daughter, Murphy “Murph” Cooper (played by Jessica Chastain/Mackenzie Foy), and send her quantum data via Morse code to her watch. Clyde spends the entire movie being ten steps ahead of every law enforcement agency in the country, only to lose in the final ten minutes to a basic plot trap because the writers refused to let the anti-hero win!!" Plot summary: Criminals break into Clyde Shelton’s (played by Gerard Butler) home and murder his wife and daughter while forcing him to watch. The prosecutor Nick Rice (played by Jamie Foxx) doesn't want to lower his high conviction rate with no evidence, so he makes a plea deal with the murderer, who pleads guilty in exchange for a smaller charge in exchange for giving up his accomplice. A decade later, Clyde takes matters into his own hands, targeting Nick and the corrupt justice system. How it ended: Nick discovers that Clyde has been using a tunnel to get in and out of his solitary confinement cell to plant a bomb under City Hall. Instead of taking the deal to stop what he's doing and surrender, Clyde dials the bomb anyway. It turns out that Nick planted Clyde's own bomb inside his cell, and it goes off with Clyde inside the cell, holding his daughter's bracelet in his hand. Robert Capa (played by Cillian Murphy) fights through Pinbacker to reach the bomb chamber. He then activates it and plunges with it into the heart of the sun. The sun then comes back to life. “Man, the ending of Marty Supreme genuinely shits on the entire rest of the movie by how bad it is. Marty constantly ruins the lives of like five people in that movie. And even when he has to choose between having his shot at glory or sticking by his girl and kid, he chooses wrong. I love it when he wins the tournament, but when he gets back, he’s supposed to confront the consequences of his choices, not be rewarded for constantly being a fuck head. He literally abandoned his family, but we’re supposed to be glad he wants to be a dad now???? Uncut Gems did it right. Howard wins his game, but loses everything in the process.” Plot summary: Following table tennis player Marty Mauser (played by Timothée Chalamet) on his quest to win the world championship. Plot summary: The story follows a man convicted in 1995 for murdering the members of his team during a journey to the Jersey Devil. How it ended: Throughout the movie, documentary filmmaker David Leigh (played by David Beard) follows the 1995 expedition to prove that the person convicted, Jim Suerd (played by James Seward), isn't the actual killer. However, it is revealed that David is the actual killer when data expert Shelly Monarch (played by Michele Pulaski) fixes the damaged footage. He then kills Shelly and finishes narrating the documentary. Plot summary: This movie follows Naomi and Logan Wallace, a mother and son (played by Piercey Dalton and Dylan Minnette), who move into a relative’s vacant house that is up for sale. During their stay, an anonymous intruder hides in the home and harasses them during weekly open houses for the home. How it ended: The movie ends with both the mother and son being killed by the intruder. The killer, aka The Man in Black (played by Edward Olson), is never revealed. Plot summary: This film follows an Alaskan town that becomes filled with vampires as they enter a 30-day-long polar night. How it ended: The town sheriff, Eben Oleson (played by Josh Hartnett), realizes the survivors cannot defeat the lead vampire, so he injects himself with vampire blood to become a vampire and gain superhuman strength. How it ended: After they both realize they’ve fallen in love with the other and find out that the other had ulterior motives, they break up. Andie quits her job and leaves for Washington, D.C. Plot summary: Tasked with solving three unexplained paranormal events, Phillip Goodman (played by Andy Nyman) is devoted to unmasking fake psychics. How it ended: Phillip eventually discovers that each of the paranormal events is connected to his own life and that the investigations are essentially manifestations of his own guilt and trauma from killing someone in a hit-and-run. “Perfectly good movie, great acting performances all around, well-paced in my opinion, and then they drop an ending that is such a fucking goofy stinker that the movie instantly becomes a joke. Literally took the intrigue and mystery from the story and hamfisted it in such a way that you can’t do anything but laugh at how silly it is. It completely ruined the movie. My advice for those who still want to watch it: turn the movie off once Emma’s character goes into the closet.” Plot summary: Two young men, Teddy Gatz and Don (played by Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis), kidnap powerful CEO Michelle Fuller (played by Emma Stone) because they believe she is an alien who is trying to destroy Earth by killing honeybees and forcing humans into submissiveness. How it ended: After being kidnapped and tortured, it is revealed that Michelle is an alien emperor. Teddy is killed, and Michelle tells the other aliens that the human experiment has failed. This is the only time I remember being mad at the ending of a movie.” Plot summary: Telly Paretta (played by Julianne Moore), a mother grieving the loss of her 9-year-old son, who died in a plane crash over a year ago, is being told by her husband and psychiatrist that she never had a son and is hallucinating due to trauma. Telly teams up with another parent named Ash (played by Dominic West), who also lost their kid in the same plane crash, to find out the truth behind what happened to their children. How it ended: The reason Telly was almost losing her memories of her son was because an alien overseer tried to erase all of her memories. Since she refuses to forget and her bond with her son is too strong to let her, the alien fails and goes back into the sky. Afterward, everything goes back to normal, and Telly is reunited with her son. Plot summary: Him is about Cameron Cade (played by Tyriq Withers), a young, up-and-coming quarterback who suffers a major head injury before the draft and is then invited to train at an isolated desert training compound run by Isaiah White (played by Marlon Wayans), a famous, nearly retired football star. He is then forced to fight against Isaiah to the death and realizes that his head injury and his whole life were manufactured by the team owners and his own father. He kills the corporate executives and walks away, choosing his own destiny over exploitation. “I challenge you to find a single movie or show where someone online hasn't put together a fan theory that the main character is dreaming the whole time, always with some evidence they find compelling. Doesn't that inherently prove that the whole trope isn't meaningful and that any hints or easter eggs are a waste of time? Particularly in the case of Shutter Island, the whole conspiracy mystery was intriguing. I had no idea what the resolution would be, but I trusted that it would be a satisfying payoff. Instead, I never got a payoff at all; I got a rug pull that insulted me for investing in the narrative I'd been shown.” Plot summary: Shutter Island follows U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) as he investigates the disappearance of a patient from a psychiatric hospital. During his search, he discovers that the island and the investigation are connected to his own past. How it ended: Teddy realizes that he is actually the patient, Andrew Laeddis. His wife (played by Michelle Williams) had several mental illnesses and ended up drowning her three children. After learning what she did, Andrew killed her. The guilt and trauma led him to create Teddy Daniels. Note: Some responses have been edited for length and/or clarity.
