Actor Ricky Schroder is getting flak for a tribute to Dolly Parton he posted on Tuesday that broke a major rule about honoring the recently deceased.

Schroder, who is best known for his roles on shows like “Silver Spoons” and “NYPD Blue,” was chosen by the singer to portray her father, Robert Lee Parton, in two TV movies based on her childhood: 2015’s “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors” and 2016’s “Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.”

After the singer’s death at the age of 80 was announced, Schroder took to Instagram to share a photo of him with Parton. However, the 56-year-old actor couldn’t put aside his anti-trans or anti-vax views in his tribute.

Schroder got a lot of heat for the post, especially from a few celebrities on Threads.

Boy George suggested Schroder “shut up,” while Katie Couric just went “ick.”

Members of the rock band Garbage felt the best response was a simple “f-bomb.”
