Hayden Panettiere’s Ex-Boyfriend’s Brother, Who Was There When She Died, Recounted Her Final Moments

Zach claimed that his brother, Brian, “gave [Hayden] Narcan” — a treatment designed to rapidly reverse the effects of a life-threatening opioid emergency. I get to spend my days writing all about the pop culture stories that your group chats are talking about. At around 1:50 p.m. local time on Aug. 16, police in Greenville, South Carolina, and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a report of an "unresponsive female" at an apartment complex. "EMS personnel initiated advanced cardiac life support measures; however, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and the individual was pronounced deceased at 2:32 PM," the Greenville County Coroner’s Office shared in a statement. For context, Hayden and Brian had been in a tumultuous on-and-off relationship for years before her death. In 2020, he was charged with multiple counts of felony abuse and pleaded no contest to two counts of injuring a spouse or partner. Brian served a short time in jail in connection with the case, and in her memoir, which came out in May this year, Hayden wrote about their complicated past, admitting that she'd decided to "let go of [her] resentment" and forgive him. "I wanted Brian to be in jail just long enough to scare him, but not long enough where he’d become a worse person," she wrote. "I needed him to admit his wrongs and change because of them, but I didn’t want to traumatize him in an irreversible way." Zach said that he is "beyond heartbroken" by Hayden's death, calling it a "tragic and traumatic loss." "Hayden was one of my dearest and closest friends that I loved and cared about for the last 8 years," he said. "Out of respect for her loved ones, the speculation and sensationalism of her death needs to end until the facts can be released from the investigation."
