Alia Shawkat is clearing up the hearsay that she dated Brad Pitt nearly seven years after the rumor mill began churning.

Recently appearing on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live,” the “Blink Twice” star, 37, clarified her relationship with the Oscar winner, 62, after Cohen recalled the gossip that spread like wildfire after the two were spotted hanging out on multiple occasions in 2019 and 2020.

Paparazzi had seen the pair grabbing food at In-N-Out, attending an art exhibit and enjoying a concert.

“I was obsessed with the Brad Pitt dating rumors,” Cohen told Shawkat.

“Me too,” Shawkat’s co-star Kristen Stewart, who was also in attendance during the Aug. 16 interview, gushed in response. “I was enthralled.”

“Oh God, of course you were,” Shawkat quipped as she nervously reached for a cocktail beside her.

“How did that come to be?” Cohen eagerly pressed.

“This is my favorite question to get asked. Um, no — he’s just my friend. We became friends,” Shawkat explained. “[Filmmaker] Spike Jonze introduced us. It sounds all very chic and Hollywood. But we met, and he’s really into art, and he’s very cool, and we became friends.”

She continued, “Everyone thought we were dating, because if you stand next to him, everyone thinks you’re dating. Like, even his own mother.”

Cohen then teased, “There could be worse dating rumors.” Shawkat agreed.

In November 2019, a source close to Pitt addressed the rumors, telling People that “absolutely nothing romantic is going on” after they were seen together at Kanye West’s “Nebuchadnezzar” opera show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

Shawkat told The New Yorker in January 2022 that apparently Pitt had no idea about the swirling rumors at the time.

“I was like, ‘You know everyone thinks we’re dating? And there’s this whole thing, and I’m being followed,’” she recalled of her conversation with Pitt. “And he was like, ‘I’m sorry. It happens. If you hang out with me, it happens.’ He had no awareness of it at all.”

Shawkat might’ve been a bit disenchanted about the rumors, but she told Cohen there was one person in her life who was overjoyed — her grandmother.

“[She] saved the Us Weekly I was on the cover of,” she recalled.

Pitt has been romantically linked to jewelry designer Ines de Ramon since late 2022. Shawkat has been linked to Phil Burgers since at least late 2023 when they welcomed their first child together.
