A “Bedroom Divorce” Could Be The Best Thing You Do For Your Sex Life

“They still schedule time for touch, cuddling, and sex before sleeping separately.” The data of sleeping with your partner is mixed. Some sleep better while others do not. What's been your experience? https://t.co/P7iBK9onsL While another argued: "There is no better sleep than having sex and then falling asleep. I don't need data to prove that." However, a third believes: “I think the quality of your sleep with or without your partner is directly correlated to the quality of the relationship.” Sex and relationships coach Gemma Nice, who works with sexual health retailer Condoms UK, believes that when you’re not subconsciously worrying about whether your partner is going to keep you awake at night, your body "drops into rest and digestion," meaning stress hormones are lowered, the body releases more serotonin, and you wake up feeling happy and refreshed. "When you aren't irritating each other all night, your intimate time together actually feels even more special. You move away from taking touch for granted and start actively choosing to share a bed for connection and physical intimacy, before retreating to your own space to sleep. It brings excitement and intention back into the bedroom," she shares. "Couples who make it work do it as a conscious pact for a healthy, trustworthy and connective relationship. They stay open, honest, raw and real about their needs," she adds. "They don't call the second bedroom the spare room – they call it their room, moving their personal belongings in so it feels like an empowering, comfortable space rather than a punishment." And that brings us to a whole other conversation: scheduling maintenance sex. Some swear by it, with two in five couples already actively pulling out the Google Calendar and booking it in, while a further 38 per cent say that, although they don’t currently do it, they’d be open to trying it. Others, on the other hand, despise the idea, believing it takes away one of the things sex is supposed to be about: spontaneous fun. Additional thumbnail photo credit: Ridofranz
