Good news for Philly commuters; SEPTA is linking directly from Center City to the Navy Yard for the first time in over a decade. Starting Aug. 23, residents can access the Navy Yard via a new direct bus service from Center City on SEPTA's Route 45, seven days of the week. According to Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, the Navy Yard supports 16,000 jobs with even greater investments on the way. "The new Route 45 routing adds daily SEPTA service to the Navy Yard, making it easier for more Philadelphians to access good jobs and family-sustaining careers without the cost of driving.β―That is economic mobility in action," Parker said in a release. The stops for Rt. 45 SEPTA bus service are as follows: Broad Street & Crescent Drive Broad Street & Intrepid Avenue Broad Street & Constitution Avenue Kitty Hawk Avenue & 11th Street Kitty Hawk Avenue & 13th Street Kitty Hawk Avenue & League Island Boulevard Rouse Boulevard & Normandy Place League Island Boulevard & Constitution Avenue Normandy Place at Central Green The Navy Yard is located on the Delaware River. Formerly a naval base, the Navy Yard has been a hub for economic development in and around the city for over 25 years with the commitment of the PIDC, Philly's public-private economic development commission.
