The Mega Millions jackpot climbed to an estimated $60 million for Tuesday night's drawing after a ticket sold in Florida won last week's $800 million prize. The winning numbers for the Tuesday, Aug. 4, drawing were 14, 21, 51, 55 and 65. The Mega Ball was 21. Mega Millions has two drawings each week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, at 11 p.m. ET. The next drawing is on Friday, Aug. 7, with an estimated jackpot of $70 million and an estimated cash option of $29.7 million. Winning the Mega Millions jackpot is exceptionally rare. The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 290,472,336, according to the official Mega Millions game rules. Before the game was revamped in April 2025, the odds were 1 in 302,575,350. Last week's $800 million win, from a ticket sold in Florida, is the 10th-largest prize in Mega Millions history. The record remains the $1.602 billion prize won in Florida in August 2023, while five other drawings have produced jackpots exceeding $1.2 billion. Mega Millions jackpots reset after a jackpot-winning ticket is sold. Following last week's $800 million win in Florida, the Mega Millions jackpot reset to $50 million before growing to $60 million for Tuesday night's drawing. Mega Millions winners can choose to receive their prize either as an annuity paid in annual installments over 30 years or as a one-time lump-sum cash payment. For the Tuesday, Aug. 4, drawing, the advertised jackpot was $60 million, while the estimated lump-sum cash option was $25.5 million before taxes. To play Mega Millions, players choose five white ball numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 24. Players who do not wish to select their own numbers can choose a Quick Pick, which generates a random set of numbers. Mega Millions tickets include a built-in multiplier that increases non-jackpot prizes.
