I’m keeping track of Trump’s economy right here. Every month. Enjoy!

As BuzzFeed's politics lead, my job is to do the doomscrolling for you.

(AKA the unemployment rate, cost of eggs, gas prices, inflation, the Dow Jones, whether citizens received a stimulus check, and Trump's overall approval rating.)

Note: Data on inflation is released a few weeks after each month has ended, so our reports will look at the previous month's numbers.

The rate currently sits at 4.2% for June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which doesn't largely differ from the 4.3–4.4% we've seen all of 2026, but I guess we'll take any slightly smaller number that we can get.

To be exact, 100% ground beef is $6.98 on average across the US, and meat is quickly becoming unaffordable for most Americans. (Ironic, too, considering the boom in adding protein to everything.)

The inflation rate dropped significantly! Nearly one full point down, June's rate was 3.5% compared to May's 4.2%.

One day we'll edge into the 20s, and I'm sure he'll still be chanting about having the best numbers out there.
