I get to spend my days writing all about the pop culture stories that your group chats are talking about.

Do We Know Why? Do we really think Hollywood's most notoriously private movie star would host SNL? Or talk about why he's not hosted SNL? Of course not — but we sure as hell wish he would!

We don't often get to see much of Leo's "real" personality away from his movie roles, but, when we do, there's no doubt that he loves a laugh. Remember that viral video of him impersonating someone at the Golden Globes this year? Yep, his skills would be perfect for the SNL stage.

He did once make a hilarious guest appearance during Jonah Hill's 2014 hosting monologue, but that's probably as close as we'll ever get to him actually hosting. Sad.

Do We Know Why? After years of speculation about why he's never stepped foot on the SNL stage, Tom revealed on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast in June 2026 that he's turned down multiple offers to host SNL due to his dyslexia and the difficulty he'd have reading lines from cue cards.

"I’m so petrified at the concept of trying to read something, and then they change [it]. For me, I can read fine, but when I have to read out loud, it just becomes like a kind of— it’s like a mental block, and I can freeze," he said. "I’ve been really lucky that they’ve asked me a few times to do it, and the truth is that I’m actually just really scared. I love the show, and I love the idea of having fun and making a fool of yourself in such a fun, creative way. It’s just that thing of the cue cards."

Do We Know Why? We don't know why Meryl has never hosted SNL, but we do know that she's a fan of the show.

Though she's never served as host, she made her SNL debut during the SNL50 anniversary special in 2025, starring alongside Pedro Pascal, Woody Harrelson, Jon Hamm, Aidy Bryant, and Kate McKinnon in a new edition of the iconic "Close Encounters" sketch.

Meryl, we've seen what you can do. Maybe she could host with Martin Short? Let's make it happen.

Do We Know Why? Denzel is a powerhouse of stage and screen, but he's yet to get SNL on his résumé.

He's never explained why, though he once allegedly said during a Reddit AMA that he would be interested in doing it. In that same AMA, he reacted to Jay Pharaoh's famed impression of him on SNL during the 2010s (see above), calling it "an impression of an impression." Eeeeek.

Do We Know Why? Yep. Mark is another dyslexic celebrity who, understandably, doesn't like the idea of reading from cue cards on live TV.

"It scares me. I’m dyslexic," he said in 2024. "When I hear about how that show works, changing things at the last second, and I want to be good at it. I’ve been watching that my whole life, and like, I don’t want to be the host who sucks. I owe Lorne Michaels more than that."

Do We Know Why? Now this is an interesting one. It looks like Tom is willing to do all manner of (literal) stunts to promote his movies, but SNL still seems to be a no-go.

He's never talked about this, but people on Reddit have speculated that his very private personal life and intense control over his public image might conflict with how the show operates.

"I feel like writing for him would be impossible," one user wrote, "he would have a billion 'no go' areas, and even if something was technically ok subject-wise, I feel like he would literally spend an hour over every beat trying to get someone to explain to him WHY is this funny? What's the joke?"

Tom is dyslexic, which could also explain why he's never done the show.

Do We Know Why? For someone who's had as many blockbusters as Will, it's shocking that he's never hosted SNL — even before the Oscars slap.

He's charismatic, great at impressions, and certainly knows how to work a crowd, which makes me wonder if there's a specific reason he hasn't hosted. Maybe he's not been a fan of some of the impressions they've done of him over the years?

Do We Know Why? Angelina's career and public image have evolved a lot over the years, and SNL is something she's never dabbled in. I personally think she'd be great, but some have concerns about her ability to let her hair down, particularly at this stage in her career.

"Curious as to how Angelina Jolie would do," one Reddit user wondered. "She's never been the one to let loose in public, but she's known as a comedian and is quite funny in a personal setting." I bet her kids would love to see her try it out!

Do We Know Why? We don't! Viola has never explained why she hasn't been on SNL yet, but if there's one thing about this EGOT winner, she knows how to wow a live audience on the spot — I mean, have you watched any of her acceptance speeches recently? Wow.

I also desperately need to see her play Annalise Keating in a sketch, ASAP.

Do We Know Why? Chris has been very open about his decision not to host SNL, saying he's been avoiding the gig "like the plague."

"I’m so scared. It’s terrifying to me," he told ET Canada in 2023. "To me, it would just be one of those things that every single night I would wake up in a cold sweat. A cameo sounds great, that’s perfect. In and out… get your toes wet. But hosting... it would provide a lot of sleepless nights for me."

I love the honesty! Know your strengths!

Do We Know Why? This is a baffling one, and Keanu has never provided any context as to why he's never done it.

"I can't understand why he hasn't been on. I imagine he'd be game for anything the writers could throw at him," one Reddit user wrote. "There's almost no possible way it could fail to be a spectacular episode."

Do We Know Why? Christian has never talked about his reasons for not doing SNL, but he is known for being a method actor, so I'd be willing to bet that his intense approach might not mesh with the fast-paced way of doing things at Studio 8H.

Do We Know Why? Angela is a native New Yorker, so her absence from the SNL stage is all the more shocking.

Angela has become known for her more serious acting performances, so perhaps she feels sketch comedy would conflict with that? But that hasn't stopped other people.

"Angela Bassett would kill," one popular Reddit comment said. "Surprised she hasn’t hosted, especially since she is from NY and went to Yale. Black Lady Sketch Show. C’mon, she’s a queen 🙌🏼."

Do We Know Why? Brad's accent work in Inglourious Basterds is evidence enough that he'd probably be great on SNL, so it remains a mystery as to why he's never done it, even during his earlier career.

Brad has previously described himself as naturally shy, so I wonder if that might have had something to do with it.

Do We Know Why? Harrison has become known for his grumpy old man schtick over the years, but he's actually incredibly funny.

We don't know why he's never hosted SNL, even in his younger years, but he has also spoken about being very shy on stage, which leads me to one of my favorite Harrison Ford quotes: "I don’t have a social anxiety disorder. I have an abhorrence of boring situations."

Do We Know Why? Will strikes me — and seemingly many others — as someone who would've made a great SNL cast member.

He's never talked about why he hasn't hosted, but I wonder if it might have something to do with his ex-wife, Amy Poehler's, ties to the show as one of its best-loved alums.

Do We Know Why? If Tom Holland's reasons for not hosting SNL come down to his dyslexia, I'd be willing to bet that Zendaya's apparent reluctance relates to her image.

Since moving away from child stardom into serious dramatic acting, Zendaya seems increasingly protective of her privacy and image — she barely even uses social media anymore. Success on SNL relies on being able to lean into jokes about your life and career, and I wonder if that's something Z doesn't quite feel ready for right now?
