We Tried Beyoncé's SirDavis Cocktails and Ranked Every Drink

One drink tasted like cough drops. Another was giving yacht party. Our final rankings couldn’t have been more different. 😅🥃 I'm the Director of Pop Culture and Celebrity News at BuzzFeed. Celebrity liquor brands are everywhere these days, so I wasn't expecting this kit to reinvent the wheel. I was curious to see how the popular whisky would taste when remixed into a summery drink, and whether the Whisky Lemonade cocktail was actually worth making. I invited my partner, James, to taste-test with me since he enjoys a good drink far more than I do. To my surprise, he bought a $30 mixology bartender's kit (pictured above) so we could go all in on the experience. So sweet. - It actually reminds me of Halls honey lemon cough drops. - Very sweet, not as sour. I can taste the honey more than the whisky. - After a few minutes, I can taste the whisky a tiny bit more. - Personally, I could use a lot less honey, but I can see why honey-lovers would enjoy it. - I would definitely enjoy this during a hot summer day; it's refreshing. - I can see this pairing well with a hot dog or hamburger at a cookout. - It's slightly too sour for my taste. To perfect the balance, I would decrease the lemonade serving from 4 oz to 3 oz and increase the honey to one full ounce. Unfortunately, we didn't have an orange twist or brandied cherry available for garnish. Rookie mistake. - It has a strong, potent whisky flavor. - Although the flavors are well-balanced, I would prefer a little more than 2 dashes of the bitters. - This one feels a bit spicy going down. LOL. - It's less sweet in comparison to the whisky lemonade cocktail; it has a powerful whisky flavor that I enjoy. - After a few sips, I can say that this is actually mouth-watering. If I weren't such a lightweight, I'd have another serving. This meant we had to pause our whisky tasting until we could purchase the additional ingredients needed to make the other drinks. - It doesn't taste like an alcoholic drink; it tastes more like juice! - Would be great for summer parties, tropical vacations, or backyard BBQs. - I could drink a lot of this because it's so smooth, but the alcohol would likely creep up on me before I knew it. - The flavor is more subtle than I anticipated due to the amount of watermelon juice included, but it's delicious. - It's nice having the watermelon on the rim as an aromatic, too. - This is a strong contender for a go-to summer drink! - The sweetness of the peach flavor hits you like a truck; it's not subtle at all. - I don't hate it, but I could only have one or two because it definitely packs a punch. - This one fell completely flat for me. I could barely taste the whisky! - The peach tea definitely drowns out all the other flavors. - I'm not a fan of peach tea, so that probably affected both my palate and my overall experience. - I'm also starting to feel a bit tipsy 😅 The Beyhive will immediately recognize the signature double "i"s in the cocktail's name, a nod to the stylized song titles on Beyoncé's Grammy-winning album, Cowboy Carter. - I had reservations about this drink. But to my surprise, I loved it! - I can taste a hint of spice on my tongue from the ginger beer after a few seconds of sipping, and it's tantalizing. - Although I don't drink often, I do enjoy a Moscow mule now and then, and this cocktail reminded me of that. - I don’t think it has a smooth blend of ingredients here. - Way too much lemon; I would do half an ounce instead. - The strawberry complements the whisky so well! - Doesn't taste overly infused with alcohol. It's a perfect daytime drink. - The sweetness of the strawberry comes through and pairs so well with the warmth of the whisky flavor. - Compared to the watermelon cocktail, this one tastes much more sophisticated. The watermelon drink is definitely the more playful of the two. - I am a big fan of this cocktail. I would highly recommend it, TBH. 10/10. JAMES: How well SirDavis whisky blends with fresh fruits. TERRY: The strawberry basil drink! So, so good. TERRY: The Peach Arnold Palmer. Boy, bye. TERRY: The watermelon mint cocktail. You'll barely notice the alcohol. JAMES: The Whisky Lemonade. When prepared right, you'll get a nice balance of flavors while still tasting the whisky center stage. TERRY: The Davis Old Fashioned tastes most like a classic cocktail (just be sure not to forget the brandied cherries and orange twist garnish!) 🍓 Which cocktail we'd happily make again TERRY: Strawberry Basil and/or the Texas Buckiin' cocktail, for me :) You can find every SirDavis cocktail recipe here. Editor's note: BuzzFeed received the SirDavis Whisky Lemonade Kit free of charge. We were under no obligation to provide a positive review, and all opinions expressed are our own. We also purchased all of the fresh fruit and fruit juices that were not included in the kit.
