"When I got to my truck, I realized I didn't have my cell phone on me. I panicked because I needed my phone to contact my friend in Vancouver when I arrived. Not knowing anyone's number by heart, I figured I was going to have to break into my ex's home.

I walked around the place looking for a way in. These were a series of identical townhomes, and the only available windows were around back. The windows were higher up, and I couldn't reach them without a ladder, which I obviously didn't have.

But I did have my truck. It was a pickup with a camper shell, so I figured I could drive it under the window and stand on top of my truck to reach it. I had to do this fast because I knew how suspicious I would look, being a total stranger standing on my truck to break into a home through a window.

I moved as fast as I could, and luckily the window wasn't locked. I was able to successfully open the window and crawl through.

What happened afterward shocked the hell out of me. As I ran around looking for my phone, I realized it wasn't my ex's home. I had just broken into the home of a total stranger. I had picked the wrong window to crawl through. Luckily, nobody was home, and I quickly ran out the front door. My heart was beating so hard I thought I could have passed out right there.

Only then did I walk to my ex's front door and realize I had forgotten to lock it like I was instructed to. I broke into that home for nothing."
