*Wolf howl* *Thunder crack* *Teeth chattering* Note: This post contains mentions of suicidal thoughts. "I know that people say that this could be sleep paralysis, BUT I was fully awake prior. I remember waking up and looking around my bedroom before any of this happened. I remember waking up, looking for my sister, who was on the other side of the bedroom, wanting to sleep with her in her bed, then lying back down because she would’ve been so pissed off if I did that. I remember trying to scream, but nothing came out but air! So I ran to my parents' bedroom and begged them to let me sleep with them. I couldn’t even sleep!! All I did was stare at the hallway, waiting. After that incident, I had many other incidents later on."—Anonymous, 44, Female, Texas "That man was gone by the time the police got there, but my room window was completely shattered like he had thrown a brick at it or something. They never found the guy, and a lot of people don’t believe this story, only my parents and younger brother. And after that, my parents sold their home, thank god."—Anonymous, 41, Male, Nebraska "Later, we’re at my mom’s friend's house having lunch. Everyone got up to put their plate in the sink. My brother rushed to the sink, washed his hands, then left with the faucet running. I put my plate in the sink when, suddenly, someone shoves my bandaged hand in the running faucet. I turned around expecting my brother, but nobody was there. I’m the only one in the kitchen. When I took off the bandages, my hands were practically all healed. I ran to tell my mom, who looked surprised but said nothing. To this day, there has been no explanation for what happened."—dortiz426 "I stayed down there until all the welding was done. I worked through breaks, lunch, everything because I was NOT going back down there NO MATTER WHAT. I don’t even remember how I got back up on the deck, but I’m sure I needed help. When I told my dad (who was an experienced boilermaker) what had happened, he called my foreman and told him that he would inflict harm on him if he ever put me in that position again. I have now been in the trade for 35 years, and I am ultra careful with apprentices (and climbing)."—Anonymous, 58, Male, Ohio "I had dreams of people getting sick, dying, or coming back to say goodbye after they died moments before we’re told. I doubt nothing from people who have premonitions or dreams because I live it."—dortiz426 "I remember looking up to see Johnny coming out of the lake in a full sprint, grabbing me by the shoulders, picking me up, and screaming at me over and over, 'How did you get over here? How did you get over here?' Through my tears, I just repeated over and over, 'I don't know! I don't know!' Then he put me down, and all of us sat there quietly for a while, not saying a word at all. All the way back home, the children just stared at me without saying a word. After we got back home, Johnny grabbed me before I went back to my house and told me that if I EVER said a word to my mom about what happened at the lake, I would NEVER go anywhere else with him. I promised him, and I never did... I never spoke about it until years later."—Anonymous, 67, Male, Louisiana "Took him to the ER, and they had no explanation for his condition. Well, I know something happened because, until he and I broke up, I kept getting sick every time I took my medal off. I’m not sure what was out to get him, but I hope I never encounter it again."—Anonymous, 34, Texas "OMG, what do we do now?? He went ahead and called, and a very sleepy voice rattled, 'Hello?' 'Is this Walter Pugh?' 'Yes!' 'Is there any other Walter Pugh there?' 'No.' So my husband made up some excuse and hung up. Once we were back at the board, we admonished it, saying, 'Why did you scare us like that?' 'I’m sorry,' came the reply. ‘I was having a nightmare.’ Who knows how we tapped into that? Who knows what forces were at play? Shortly thereafter, we began getting more dark messages, and I started to feel physically ill, so we abandoned our searching. I do NOT recommend a Ouija board… We truly don’t control what comes through."—Anonymous "It’s been 30 years since that day, and I know in my soul that I passed through something or glimpsed something that fundamentally altered the path that I am on. I often feel like the veil is very thin for me and that on the other side is a parallel life that I could or should be living. It haunts me."—Anonymous, 45, Female, California I woke up the next morning to find out my grandfather’s nephew had passed away in the middle of the night. I believe my grandmother was distracting me so I would not go with everyone who had passed. I believe my great-aunt and uncle, along with my grandfather, were there to take my cousin to the other side with them. I felt so much love from all of them in my dream. And my grandmother was telling me it wasn't my time to go while she was distracting me. I never thought about killing myself again.—Anonymous, 50, Female, New York Note: Comments were edited for length/clarity.
