Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) on Thursday quipped that her “revenge” on President Trump will be by including herself in the “unemployment number in” January 2027 when her term concludes. Mace wrote on the social platform X that she has been asked if she will “get revenge on Trump” for “ending” her political career. “The answer is yes,” she said. “I’ll be adding to the unemployment number in January.” Mace came in the fifth-place spot in the Republican gubernatorial primary in South Carolina on Tuesday. Trump endorsed Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette (R), who will go up against state Attorney General Alan Wilson (R) in the June 23 runoff. The South Carolina Republican said she intends to return to the private sector once her term ends, having previously founded a public relations firm and worked in local news before entering politics at the state level. On Thursday, in a response to a social media post from comedian and actor Rob Schneider, Mace vowed to not wind down her term quietly. “Don’t worry sir, I promise to be more of a menace than ever,” she wrote. “There is nothing to hold me back.” The South Carolina lawmaker, who has represented the Palmetto State’s 1st Congressional District since January 2021, became the state’s first Republican woman ever elected to Congress. Mace has frequently spoken out against her party. She was among four Republicans to sign onto a discharge petition to bring the House to a vote on passing the Epstein Files Transparency Act in November. She has been outspoken in calling for the Justice Department to release all of its files about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In March, she introduced a resolution for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to subpoena former Attorney General Pam Bondi in the panel’s probe into the Epstein case. Mace, who has said she is a survivor of sexual assault, said on Tuesday that she “chose to stand on principle” on the Epstein case, even if it cost her political support.
