Trump's Rant About Graham Platner Could Be A Rant About Himself

Donald Trump had some harsh words to say about Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner on Wednesday. The controversial oysterman will be facing longtime GOP Sen. Susan Collins in the November election and currently has a 5-point lead over her, according to RealClearPolitics. Platner is ahead in the polls despite a messy past that includes past offensive posts online, cheating accusations, and, of course, a skull and crossbones tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol. Considering a Collins win would help Trump and the Republicans stay in control of the Senate, Trump “slammed the Democrats for not talking enough about the allegations against Platner.” “He’s a thug, and they’re trying to make excuses for him,” Trump began. “I mean, he’s worse than any human being that’s run for office, probably.” But in this case, Platner might be rubber and Trump might be glue because disgruntled voters might describe the president using many of the same words he used to trash the Maine Democrat. Trump on Platner: He's a thug . H's worse than any human being that's ever run for office, probably. Nobody's ever had a record like that. Schumer goes crazy over Epstein. Why aren’t they talking about him? This guy's got a rap sheet. He's a thug. I know thugs. I had to deal with… pic.twitter.com/QFDr58ybqR “Can you imagine if the Republicans had him?” Trump continued, and claimed, among other things, “There’s never been a guy like that that’s ever run for office, and at any level. The guy is a loser.” Trump on Platner: Can you imagine if the Republicans had him? It's really history because there's never been a guy like that that's ever run for office, and at any level. The guy is a loser. pic.twitter.com/YuqdfFmUrJ Trump may have thought he was making a slam-dunk case against Platner, but his remarks lacked self-awareness, considering he’s had his own cheating scandals and, unlike Platner, was found guilty of 34 felonies. Naturally, people had thoughts. The staggering lack of self-awareness has rendered me mute for once. https://t.co/UE3kCJ2mVt Irony is officially dead https://t.co/Gv8s31YwLs You gotta love how trump keeps describing himself and nobody on the press says anything about him in the epstein files. https://t.co/hb62wK7m2O If Platner was a Republican you would be praising him. https://t.co/TwOUGUARcc If I were Platner’s campaign I’d run this as an endorsement https://t.co/QOviu7bg1S Some wondered if bringing up Jeffrey Epstein was the right play here. So Trump is trying to equate Platner’s inappropriate texts to a multinational child sex trafficking ring lead by his close personal friend. Yeah that’s comparing apples to pedophiles, Donnie. https://t.co/wl85cVPxEo With all of Platner’s flaws he’s NOT in the Epstein Files. A jury didn’t find Platner liable of sexually assaulting a woman in a dept. store dressing room. Platner didn’t brag that he would walk in on underage beauty pageant contestants while they were changing. https://t.co/yinvNqWKqX HE IS SOMEHOW NOT TALKING ABOUT HIMSELF. And then somehow at the end his dementia ravaged brain found a need to mention EPSTEIN. What the fuck? https://t.co/OXpsk9f7jE And, of course, the Spider-Man meme came up. https://t.co/2MZx7SQcgg pic.twitter.com/gcI2nqkyMo HuffPost reached out to Platner’s office for comment, but no one immediately responded. He did however post a video on social media after Trump’s statements to remind voters of the president’s relationship with Epstein. The only thing the DC establishment can agree on is a love of Jeffrey Epstein — and a hatred of me.Together, we will take back our government from the Epstein class.WATCH: Our new TV ad pic.twitter.com/H0Ekeqa4uC By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
