Trump Throws A Fit After Stephen A. Smith Blames Him For Knicks Loss

Donald Trump doesn’t seem pleased with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith for predicting that his presence at the NBA Finals could prove to be bad luck for the New York Knicks, who lost to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. Hours before the game, Smith used ESPN’s “First Take” to declare that he’d be “blaming” such a loss on the president due to Trump’s “selfish” and “narcissistic” decision to attend the game at Madison Square Garden, which was subjected to heightened security measures ahead of tipoff as a result. “This is not the place for the president to be coming. He knows it. He just doesn’t care,” Smith said before the president watched the Spurs’ Game 3 victory over the Knicks, marking New York’s first loss since April 23. Trump — who was viciously booed, appeared to doze off midgame and allegedly left with over seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter — wasn’t feeling Smith’s pregame prediction that he’d be the vibes ruiner-in-chief. “I think he’s a nice guy, but you need a certain aptitude to run for president. You need a high IQ. I’m not sure that Stephen has that,” said Trump, who described Smith as a “smart guy” that he’d “love” to see run for president just last year. Reporter: Stephen A. Smith said he would blame you if the Knicks lostTrump: He is a nice guy but you need a certain aptitude to run for president. You need a high IQ. I don't think Stephen has it. pic.twitter.com/7DV1fZdcfL Critics on social media weighed in on the clip, with several users on X arguing that the president has used the “low IQ” label as a go-to attack toward people of color. Trump always seems to bring up I.Q. whenever he's talking about a Black personhttps://t.co/0DuGp2DG7a I mean I already know that Smith is, but obviously if Trump—who has been a *virulent* racist his entire life—is accusing someone of having a low IQ, he is speaking of a Black person https://t.co/yCz0u1gguM Has he ever brought up IQ when hes talking about a white person The incredible irony of the dumbest person in the history of the United States presidency, by far, calling other people stupid and low IQ is never lost on me. https://t.co/dBsXAdXyZ9 I'm with @stephenasmith on this one. Trump killed the Knicks vibe with his selfish visit. https://t.co/bikXJwHpX4 We’re about to get a generational episode of First Take tomorrow https://t.co/YEHoudDJe2 @stephenasmith you just gon let that slide? pic.twitter.com/hWik87j6ww He just gave Stephen A a weeks worth of content 🤦🏾♂️ Donald Trump and high IQ don’t even go in the same sentence Says the man who believes his cognitive tests are measuring his IQ.
