Joy Behar confirmed she was leaving the “The View” for a few weeks to perform her stage play “My First Ex-Husband” on London’s West End. But she also took a shot at the MAGA faithful in a podcast for the talk show shared Tuesday. (Watch the video below.) Executive producer Brian Teta, the host of “Behind the Table,” noted a study found that “bonding over a shared dislike of a person or a topic generates a stronger sense of connection and trust than bonding over a shared interest.” “So the enemy of my enemy is my friend,” Behar summed up. “That is basically the story of the Trump supporter,” she continued. “That they are bonding over ‘we’re getting the liberals.’ ... And I think that keeps them going even though all of the policies are against them. The fact that they’re owning the libs makes them bond and feel like they have to keep supporting this president. At one point though I think they’re gonna realize that the policies are harming them more than they are owning the libs.” “When that day comes we’ll have a nice glass of champagne,” she said. Trump’s low approval ratings due in part to his war in Iran and its economic impact seem to indicate Behar might be closer to that toast than ever. The longtime host, who has incurred the wrath of the president and his administration, might have touched a nerve this week when she slammed New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart as “racist” for praising Trump at a New York campaign stop this week. At least now she’ll be out of the country if there’s more blowback. “I fly to Paris this week, and then I go take the Chunnel to London after a week, and I’ll be in London a second week doing my play, ‘My First Ex-Husband,’ at the Boulevard Theatre in the West End,” Behar said. “We have Jackie Hoffman and I [playing] the two American women talking, then we have two British actresses. ... Doesn’t that sound like fun?” Sheryl Underwood and Kara Swisher will be among the fill-in hosts for Behar and Whoopi Goldberg will work Fridays, Teta said.
