Voters in Texas are weighing in on a handful of House primary runoffs Tuesday. Former Rep. Colin Allred will face off against Rep. Julie Johnson in the 33rd Congressional District’s Democratic primary. Johnson succeeded Allred last cycle after the former lawmaker vacated his seat for an unsuccessful Senate run. In Houston’s 18th Congressional District, two lawmakers, Democratic Reps. Al Green and Christian Menefee, are pitted against each other in the member-on-member match-up after Texas Republicans redrew the state’s House lines last year. A candidate running in the 35th Congressional District’s Democratic primary has also gained national attention over offensive remarks. Maureen Galindo, a sex therapist, is facing off against Johnny Garcia, a deputy sheriff. Galindo drew condemnation from Democrats nationwide, who described her comments as antisemitic. Jon Bonck and Shelly deZevallos, meanwhile, are vying for the GOP nomination to succeed outgoing Rep. Wesley Hunt in the 38th Congressional District. Hunt lost a Senate primary bid this spring. And in the 19th Congressional District, Tom Sell and Abraham Enriquez are fighting for the GOP nod to replace retiring Rep. Jodey Arrington. Polls close at 8 p.m. EDT.
