They’re a harsh reality with any sort of hair removal, but we can at least minimize them.

As a Deputy Editorial Director for BuzzFeed’s shopping team, I love to get into the weeds of why a product’s worth the money by deep diving into customer reviews, and product-testing as much as possible.

Hair removal is annoying enough without ingrown hairs popping up like they own the place. If those unwelcome spots tend to make an appearance on your body, here are some products that gave some reviewers relief so you too can also treat the spots and let you move on with your day (and your skin-baring summery plans). 

Promising review: "For YEARS I have had red, angry skin and ingrown hairs from shaving almost daily. Within TWO days, my skin looks healthy, beautiful, and smooth. I also have very sensitive skin, and this mitt doesn't leave my skin irritated at all. However, absolutely do not use this mitt on your face, neck, or other sensitive areas, it would be way too harsh.

Rubbing alcohol-based products (like Tend Skin) can help prevent an infection of an ingrown, but can’t prevent an ingrown itself, according to Cleveland Clinic.

I have some of these at home and use them pretty regularly. Just make sure you're not exfoliating with these (or any other product) until three days post-wax. If you're just using on your bikini area, you can get away with cutting a wipe in half, but they're also great for swiping on other areas where you might remove hair, like arms pits and legs.
