Rod Stewart Applauds King Charles For Drubbing 'That Little Ratbag' In Trump Visit

Rod Stewart sang King Charles’ praises in London on Monday, telling the monarch he was “superb” in the way he dealt with “that little ratbag” during his state visit to the “Americas.” Many outlets assumed the rock legend was talking about President Donald Trump. HuffPost has reached out to reps for Stewart for comment. The “Maggie May” singer’s comment to Charles at a King’s Trust event at Royal Albert Hall certainly dissed someone on that U.S. trip, which included a visit with Trump at the White House and an address to Congress. According to video posted by Sky News, Stewart told the king: “May I say, well done in the Americas. You were superb, absolutely superb; you put that little ratbag in his place.” Charles appeared to laugh at the remark. While in Washington, D.C., with Queen Camilla, Charles made a dig about Trump’s ballroom. He also offered a lighthearted rebuke of Trump’s remark that if it weren’t for the Americans in World War II, Europeans would be speaking German. “Dare I say that, if it wasn’t for us, you’d be speaking French!” the royal said at a White House state dinner. Politico Europe noted that Stewart’s once-neighborly friendship with Trump had eroded, citing a 2025 Radio Times interview. “I’m not a great fan of Trump,” the Grammy winner said. “I knew him very, very well. I used to go to his house. I live literally half a mile away [in Florida] … We’re both on the beach. I used to go to his Christmas parties. He’s always been a bit of a man’s man. I liked him for that. But he didn’t, as far as I’m concerned, treat women very well. But since he became president, he became another guy. Somebody I didn’t know.” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
