Rocket Mortgage claimed the top spot in mortgage origination volume in 2025, beating out previous leader United Wholesale Mortgage, according to Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data.

While nearly 5,000 lenders originated mortgages in 2025, most of the activity is concentrated at the top: The 10 largest mortgage lenders accounted for more than 23% of all U.S. home loans originated and over 25% of the dollar volume of loans originated for the year.

Below are the top 10 lenders by 2025 origination volume. This list is based on a Bankrate analysis of Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data, with assistance from LendingPatterns, a mortgage data firm.
