Harry Enten Flags ‘Oh My’ Moment For Trump With His Own ‘Infatuated’ Base

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten highlighted what he called a “really stunning” polling detail showing that even Donald Trump’s “infatuated” Republican base is turning on him over rising gas prices tied to his Iran war. Trump is “getting blamed” for the spike more than other presidents have “to an historic degree,” with 77% of Americans saying he “owns this mess,” Enten said. He then noted how the backlash is also coming from within Trump’s own party. “Oh my, you know, this is a Republican base that has been infatuated with Donald Trump for years,” he teased, noting how 55%, a majority of GOPers, currently blame Trump for the hike in fuel costs. It’s the “highest ever blame for gas prices from one’s own party,” the analyst added. Trump may argue the higher costs are worth it, but Enten said Americans aren’t buying it. “Is the Iran war worth higher gas prices? Sixty-four percent of Americans say, ‘no,’ just a third say, ‘yes,’” he said, calling them “consistent” numbers in recent weeks. Watch Enten’s analysis here: Historic: More voters blame Trump (77%) for gas prices rising than ever blamed Bush, Obama or Biden. A rare majority trifecta of Dems (95%), Indies (82%) & GOP (55%) now blame Trump. And unlike what Trump/Rick Scott argue, 64% say the war hasn't been worth higher gas prices. pic.twitter.com/3pYxOIcrMF By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
