First Lady Melania Trump called late-night host Jimmy Kimmel a "coward" after he made a joke calling her an "expectant widow" days before a shooter stormed an event she attended with President Donald Trump. On Thursday, Kimmel made the remarks during a parody of the forthcoming White House Correspondents' Dinner. "Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow," Kimmel said. In a post on X on Monday, Melania Trump called Kimmel's remarks "hateful and violent" and said they were "intended to divide our country". She urged ABC to take action against him. "His monologue about my family isn't comedy - his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America," she said. She said it was time for ABC, the network that broadcasts Kimmel's show, to "take a stand". "How many times will ABC's leadership enable Kimmel's atrocious behavior at the expense of our community," she wrote. King Charles III's trip to the US comes at a time of strained relations between Washington and London over the Iran war. President Trump said the US had cancelled plans to send a team to Pakistan for negotiations. Oz Pearlman - a self-described "mentalist" - was speaking to Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and press secretary Karoline Leavitt as the attack happened. The man arrested at the event attended by President Trump is due in court on Monday. Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were rushed from a ballroom after gunfire was heard.
