Joe Rogan Spills On Mysterious Exchange With Trump At UFC Fight: ‘This Is The Truth’

Joe Rogan on Tuesday addressed rumors surrounding his recent encounter with President Donald Trump, as their inaudible exchange at a UFC fight earlier this month had sparked speculation that they had fallen out over Rogan’s various criticisms of the MAGA leader. The podcaster is a frequent Trump ally but has also voiced frustration over the Iran war and other issues, leading some to believe he got an earful on April 11 when cameras caught Trump leaning in to share some words ahead of a fight at the Kaseya Center in Florida. “It was literally the opposite,” said Rogan on the latest episode of his podcast. “I texted him on Friday about ibogaine, and I was telling him how there’s all these vets —” he explained, before adding, “I had these guys on the podcast and I know so many people that have done it, particularly soldiers that have done it and people with opiate [addictions].” The comedian and UFC commentator has long espoused the apparent benefits of various illegal substances and notably joined Trump at the Oval Office on Saturday as he signed an executive order directing the FDA to expedite the review of certain psychedelics. Rogan explained on his show that they were in touch ahead of the UFC encounter. “I told him about it, I said how effective it is, and I said it’s been held up for so long,” said Rogan about ibogaine. “And he said, ‘What are you looking for? You looking for FDA approval?’ He goes, ‘It sounds good to me.’ He said, ‘Let’s do it.’” The podcaster continued, “And so, literally, he sees me at the UFC the next day, shakes my hand and says, ‘It’s done.’ That’s what he was saying. I said, ‘Thank you, sir.’ It wasn’t like he was mad at me at all; it was the opposite ... This is the truth. That’s exactly what happened.” The details of their exchange were left unclear at the time, prompting rabid speculation on social media that Trump was furious with Rogan, who has slammed Trump’s immigration raids, said he was “losing it” and has called MAGA followers “a bunch of fucking dorks.” Rogan has also expressed concern and frustration with Trump’s war on Iran, which has already cost at least 13 U.S. service members and more than 3,000 Iranians their lives, calling the conflict “fucking terrifying” on an episode of his podcast last week. He added at the time, “Anytime you’re involved with, you’re shooting missiles into towns and blowing things up, blowing up infrastructure, blowing up bridges, and Israel’s blowing up Lebanon now. It’s like, what the fuck are we doing? How is this still going on?” Rogan was nonetheless invited Saturday when Trump signed the executive order, seemingly confirming he hasn’t broken with the MAGA leader — unlike former Trump allies Tucker Carlson, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Alex Jones. The comedian recalled greeting Trump at the UFC fight, “He came to me, and he said, ‘It’s done, we’re going to take care of it. This is a good thing, it’s a good thing for the soldiers, good thing for everybody.’ And then he had the press conference the next week.” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
