Ukraine: At least two dead as gunman opens fire in Kyiv

Two people have been killed and others injured as a person opened fire in Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital's Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said. The incident happened in the southern Holosiivskyi district, Kyiv's police force wrote on Telegram. Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko later confirmed that people had been taken hostage in a supermarket and that the attacker shot at police officers before being killed. The exact number of those killed and injured is unclear, but Klitchko said at least 10 people had been taken to hospital, including a child. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says his nation's forces would respond "symmetrically" to Russian attacks. Easter festivities are muted in Kharkiv as Ukrainians expect fighting to flare up again after a weekend truce. Since 2010, OrbΓ‘n has transformed Hungary into what the European Parliament has denounced as a "hybrid regime of electoral autocracy".
