Artificial intelligence can now handle work that once required teams, Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas said. He recently told the "All-In podcast" that the technology can take on tasks such as running ad campaigns, handling customer support and managing payments. In his view, those tools could give more individuals a way to work with greater independence and ownership. Srinivas told podcast host Jason Calacanis that workers displaced by AI may have to look beyond traditional employment. "There is suddenly a new possibility, a new opportunity to go use these tools, learn them and start your own mini business," he said. "The reality is most people don't enjoy their jobs," he said. The comments come as AI-linked job cuts are rising. Outplacement and career transition firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas said AI was the leading reason cited for U.S. job cuts in March, with 15,341 announced cuts linked to the technology. Srinivas said on the podcast, the technology needed to make that possible is already here, with AI now taking over parts of the workflow that once required teams. Perplexity has also been shipping new AI tools in recent weeks. The company said on March 13 that it expanded its Computer feature to Pro users and enterprise settings. It launched Comet for iOS alongside additional updates two weeks later. "I think that is, even if there is temporary job displacement to deal with, that sort of glorious future is what we should look forward to," Srinivas said. Srinivas' view of AI replacing entire workflows reflects a broader shift already underway across industries, particularly in areas like marketing and customer engagement. As companies look to operate more efficiently with fewer resources, AI-driven platforms are increasingly being used to optimize campaigns and analyze performance in real time. Companies like RAD Intel are developing tools designed to help brands adapt to this shift, using artificial intelligence to refine marketing strategies and respond more quickly to changing consumer behavior.
