‘America Needs To Know’: GOP Lawmaker Urges Trump To Release ‘Wild’ UFO Files

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) is calling on President Donald Trump to release all government files related to UFOs and aliens just days after saying the president is the “disruptor” who should uncover the information to Americans. “Just tell the American public. It’s like I told President Trump — peel back the layers of that onion, let America decide if we can handle it. I think we can handle it,” Burchett said Sunday on Fox News’ “The Big Weekend Show.” The Republican lawmaker called the things he’s been briefed on related to extraterrestrials “pretty wild.” “I have some ideas about what it is, I’ve been briefed on some things and, yeah, they’re pretty wild. And I think America needs to know that stuff, and we need to know what the heck we’re spending the money on to study,” he continued. Noting that it’s not about “little green men” or “dadgum flying saucers,” Burchett continued, “It’s about what are we spending tens of millions of your dollars on when some alphabet agency tells me they don’t exist and then again, another department within that department tells me they do exist.” Burchett’s remarks came after the Tennessee representative appeared on Stephen A. Smith’s Sirius XM radio show “Straight Shooter” and said that “Trump’s the guy” who needs to release the files. “If anybody will do it, if anybody’s a disruptor, it’s Donald J. Trump, and he will disrupt with this,” he said on the April 9 episode. “And I had a conversation with folks at the White House today, just about that. Hopefully some things will be coming out soon.” Earlier this month, Burchett also told Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty that the public would be “up at night worrying” if they knew what he knows about extraterrestrials. Claiming that “it keeps getting covered up,” he stressed that “this country would’ve come unglued if they would’ve heard all that I heard.” “They would demand answers,” Burchett added. Discourse over UFOs ramped up on social media earlier this year after former President Barack Obama said that aliens are “real’’ during a February podcast interview. After his comments went viral, Obama swiftly clarified in an Instagram post that he had not seen evidence of their existence. Trump rebuked Obama over his remarks, telling Fox News, “He gave classified information. He’s not supposed to be doing that. I don’t know if they’re real or not … I can tell you he gave classified information … He made a big mistake.” Despite scolding Obama, Trump said days later in a Truth Social post that he would have the Pentagon and other agencies release any government files related to “alien and extraterrestrial life.” “I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters,” he said.
