A retail and office center in southeast Lexington is getting upgraded.

Following the sale of French Quarter Square on Richmond Road just off New Circle Road, the shopping center will undergo a paint job, landscaping and lighting overhaul this summer, said Eli Mashni, who is a broker with KW Commercial that represented the buyer.

French Quarter Square is a roughly 37,490-square-foot retail and office center at 2573 Richmond Road. It sold for $8.5 million.

Though the property is changing owners, it will continue to be managed by NAI Isaac, a Lexington-based commercial real estate brokerage and management services firm. Brokers from that firm represented the seller in the transaction.

In September, Playa Bowls opened its second Lexington location at French Quarter Square and Mashni said other recent additions include a hot yoga studio and a personal training facility.

There is one space of roughly a dozen at the shopping center that is currently for lease, he said.

The center is also home to a Sun Tan City, salon and is adjacent to a 155-bed Hilton hotel.

The last time the property changed hands was in 2007 when RBHV Lexington LLC bought it from FelCor Suites Limited Partnership for $5.5 million, according to the Fayette County Property Valuation Administrator.
