SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego is getting a taste of warm, almost summer-like weather before a big change moves in. Through midweek, temperatures will stay warmer than normal, especially inland. Some areas could be up to 10 degrees above average, with inland valleys reaching the upper 70s to mid-80s, and deserts heating up into the 90s. Near the coast, it will stay a bit cooler, with highs in the mid-60s to around 70 degrees. But this warm weather won’t last long. By Friday night, clouds will increase, and rain chances will return to San Diego County. That storm will stick around into Saturday, bringing scattered showers and even a slight chance of thunderstorms. It will also feel much colder, especially in the mountains, where temperatures could drop to 10 to 15 degrees below normal. Winds will also pick up, especially in the mountains and deserts. Gusts could reach 35 to 45 miles per hour Thursday and Friday, making it feel even chillier. There’s still a chance for a few showers to linger into Sunday, along with another round of gusty winds, before drier and warmer weather returns early next week. Enjoy the warm weather now, because by the weekend, you’ll likely need jackets—and maybe even an umbrella. Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
