Jen Shah spent some of her time behind bars with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, but the former reality TV star said they had “limited interactions.” “I worked at recreation, and she would come in to work out,” Shah, 52, said during an interview with People published on Wednesday, April 1. “But her experience there is very different from anyone else’s, even Elizabeth [Holmes] and I.” The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum said that Maxwell, 64, “is treated very differently” inside the Federal Prison Camp Bryan located in Texas. “I chose to have very limited interaction with her,” Shah continued. “She made it very publicly known, at least to Elizabeth and I, that there’s no remorse there.” Maxwell was convicted of helping late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein recruit and sexually abuse underage girls, and Shah claimed that there were times when Epstein’s victims would be speaking in interviews on the prison televisions. “It was a lot when the victims would be on TV and talking,” Shah explained. “She would just – complete disregard for them. This is when they are pouring their hearts out in front of Congress and for the files to be released and stuff.” The former Bravo star said that Maxwell’s behavior “didn’t sit” with her “the right way.” Shah was arrested in March 2021 and she later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud tied to a nationwide telemarketing scheme that targeted innocent people. “With today’s sentence, Jennifer Shah finally faces the consequences of the many years she spent targeting vulnerable, elderly victims,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in January 2023, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office. “These individuals were lured in by false promises of financial security, but in reality, Shah and her co-conspirators defrauded them out of their savings and left them with nothing to show for it. This conviction and sentence demonstrate once again that we will continue to vigorously protect victims of financial fraud and hold accountable those who engage in fraudulent schemes.” Shah was sentenced to prison and served around two years and nine months before being released in December 2025 to complete the remainder of her sentence under home confinement.
