Kid Rock’s Eye-Rolling Stunt To Troll Gavin Newsom Prompts Army To Launch Investigation

People are finding a new video Kid Rock posted to his X account as confusing as the meaning of “Bawitdaba.” The U.S. Army has ordered an investigation after the “You Never Met a Motherf**ker Quite Like Me” singer posted a video of himself fist-pumping at two military helicopters that appeared to swing by his pool in the Nashville suburb of Whites Creek on Saturday, local news station NewsChannel 5 reports. In the video, Kid Rock can be seen standing poolside next to a replica of the Statue of Liberty, saluting two AH-64 Apache attack helicopters hovering at a close distance just beyond him. Both aircrafts had reportedly flown over a “No Kings” protest in downtown Nashville before flying to Kid Rock’s pad that same day. “This is a level of respect that shit for brains Governor of California will never know. God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her. 🇺🇸 🙏,” Kid Rock captioned his video, referring to California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), who regularly trolls high-profile conservatives on X. Critics on social media immediately wondered if taxpayers were footing the bill for the stunt. Why tf my tax dollars playing for our military to swing by your pool? Is this what the taxpayer money gets them? Ego boosts for orange nosed suck ups? Cool. Who wasted thousands of dollars in fuel, maintenance and wages to go hover by his pool? Military leaders at Fort Campbell were also surprised by the contents of Kid Rock’s video, and are looking into it, an Army spokesperson told NewsChannel 5 in a statement. Officials were also reportedly caught off guard by the helicopters’ pass over the “No Kings” protest. “Fort Campbell leadership is aware of a video circulating on social media depicting AH-64 Apache helicopters operating in the vicinity of a private residence associated with Mr. Robert Ritchie (also known as ‘Kid Rock’),” said a statement by Maj. Jonathon Bless, public affairs officer for the 101st Airborne Division. “The command has initiated an investigation to review the circumstances surrounding this activity.” Bless said the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell “maintain strict standards for aviation safety, professionalism, and adherence to established flight regulations” and take “all concerns regarding aircraft operations and their impact on the surrounding community seriously.” In regards to why helicopters from Fort Campbell were flying over Nashville’s “No Kings” protest, Bless later told NewsChannel 5 that “pilots do regularly fly routes outside the Fort Campbell area.” “We just don’t know if it was incidental or if it was deliberate,” Bless said. The website Military.com pointed out in an article published Monday morning that training missions require pilots to navigate all kinds of terrain and altitudes that resemble real-world environments, so a military aircraft flying over civilian areas isn’t uncommon. Yet these training missions, funded through Department of Defense training budgets, are usually planned in advance, the article said, and the “absence of that kind of public notice in this case has contributed to confusion about the purpose of the flight.” When The Daily Beast reached out to Bless for comment on the investigation, he said that the helicopters were “flying a route in the Nashville vicinity for training purposes.” “Any association with the No Kings Rally also happening in Nashville that day is entirely coincidental,” he said. “An administrative review is underway to assess the mission and verify compliance with regulations and airspace requirements,” Bless added. “Appropriate action will be taken if any violations are found.” HuffPost has reached out to the 101st Airborne Division public affairs office for comment on why the helicopters made a pit stop at Kid Rock’s residence and whether any violations had taken place.
