Celine Dion celebrated her 58th birthday on Monday, March 30, by announcing her triumphant return to the concert stage after more than six years. The five-time Grammy winner confirmed plans to perform 10 shows at Paris’ La Défense Arena, kicking off Sept. 12 and wrapping on Oct. 14. Tickets for the concerts go on sale April 10, following a fan presale on April 7. Dion made the announcement in a pair of emotional videos, one in English and the other in French, shared on her social media pages Monday. “Over these last few years, every day that’s gone by, I’ve felt your prayers and support, your kindness and love. Even in my most difficult times, you were there for me,” she said. “You’ve helped me in ways I can’t even describe and I’m truly so fortunate to have your support. I’ve missed you so much.” Watch Celine Dion’s March 30 video announcement below. “This year, I’m getting the best birthday gift of my life,” she continued. “I’m getting the chance to see you, to perform for you once again in Paris, beginning in September this year. I’m so happy, I’m so ready to do this. I’m feeling good, I’m strong, I’m feeling excited, obviously a little nervous, but most of all, I am grateful to all of you. I can’t wait to see you again.” Dion hasn’t performed a full-fledged concert since March 2020, when her Courage Tour was cut short amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, the French-Canadian pop superstar had been expected to resume the tour sometime in 2023. In December 2022, however, she confirmed she’d been diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called stiff-person syndrome that had significantly impacted her ability to perform live. The incurable condition can be so debilitating that some develop a hunched posture, eventually preventing them from walking or moving independently at all. Just months after revealing her diagnosis, Dion formally canceled her remaining concert dates. Since then, Dion has maintained a low public profile, save for a surprise appearance at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she presented the Album of the Year award to Taylor Swift. Later that year, she gave a chilling performance of “Hymne à l’amour,” made famous by legendary Edith Piaf, atop the Eiffel Tower during the Summer Olympics in Paris. She also chronicled her health journey in an Emmy-nominated documentary, “I Am: Celine Dion.” In recent months, however, Dion began hinting at a comeback, starting with a series of quirky videos on social media that showcased her self-effacing humor. Earlier this month, posters featuring the titles of her most famous songs, including 1993’s “The Power of Love” and “My Heart Will Go On,” the Oscar-winning theme from 1997’s “Titanic,” began appearing throughout Paris, fueling speculation that her return to the spotlight was imminent.
