Trump Hints That Joe Kent Did His Late Wife Dirty In Unhinged Interview

President Donald Trump bizarrely suggested that Joe Kent remarried too soon in a Monday interview at Palm Beach International Airport. (Watch the video below.) That he would raise the subject at all is bonkers. But the president’s hint that Kent, who resigned as director of the National Counterterrorism Center last week, somehow violated bereavement customs added another dollop of “huh?” Asked by the press gaggle if he thought Kent was leaking information, Trump replied that he was “not a fan of the guy” and said Kent was supportive of his war efforts on social media even though he resigned saying Iran posed no imminent threat. “He was a man that I met at Dover [Air Force Base]. He came when his wife was killed,” Trump recalled, referring to Kent’s late wife Shannon, a Navy intelligence officer who was killed in 2019 by a suicide bomber in Syria. Trump then dropped the hammer of judgment. “He remarried fairly quickly,” the president said pointedly. Kent married Heather Kaiser, a fellow Army veteran, in August 2023, about 4.5 years after Shannon’s death. So heaven knows what the president was talking about. Trump also mentioned that Kent, a retired Green Beret, lost two bids for Congress (as an election-denying, pro-Trump conservative) and that “they” gave him a job and “this is what he does to me.” The president told the story multiple times within seconds of each other. But at least now America knows where to turn for advice on matrimonial mourning etiquette. Trump on Joe Kent: "I'm not a fan of the guy ... His wife was killed. He remarried fairly quickly." pic.twitter.com/oim0YIbpjV By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
