Jimmy Kimmel jumped on the Pearl Harbor joke President Donald Trump made during Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s Thursday visit to the White House. “I guess we should be grateful he didn’t do an accent,” Kimmel said after showing the clip. The show’s live audience grimaced and groaned while the clip was shown. “What is going on through that orange head of his?” Kimmel asked. “Let me tell you, there’s no doubt in my mind that everything he knows about Pearl Harbor begins and ends with a movie starring Ben Affleck. Trump made the joke after a Japanese reporter asked him why he had not informed the United States’ allies about the strikes on Iran. “One thing you don’t wanna signal too much, you know, when we go in we went in very hard, and we didn’t tell anybody about it, because we wanted surprise,” Trump said. “Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor?” Watch Kimmel’s full monologue from Thursday night’s show: By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
