With Eid right around the corner, I've gathered up the most refreshing ideas to help make the festivities extra special… Side note, if I could give an award for best Founder’s social media presence and business personality, it would be planted right here (Kanita, I’m looking at you). Pick an entire “brownie slab” with your cute Eid message decorated on top, or go for an entire box of 21 Eid brownies, with your choice of 6 flavours, the finest ingredients, and always baked to perfection. Whether you’re gifting this or serving it to guests with their coffees at your place, you’re guaranteed a “wow” with this one. *(I'd tell you to go see for yourself, Instagram circa Valentine's day, but let's keep it halal, shall we). We love a truly inclusive brand and these guys don’t only boast the most delicious and unique flavours, they also launched a limited edition Mango flavour for Ramadan: “Its golden hues echo the colours of sunset, a moment that holds special meaning during Ramadan. A time when the day softens, fasts are broken, and people come together.” - See what I mean?! You could even serve your guests a small tray of Humantra ‘mocktails’ (I’d go for lovely lilac Lychee) over ice in your prettiest glasses - the perfect welcome drink and conversation starter. Fun story: My adorable granddad (who only enjoys his wife’s homemade food) somewhat reluctantly joined us for a Dishoom lunch and ended up hogging a bowl of Chicken Ruby all to himself (they’re sharing bowls). If there’s ever a restaurant that will sway your toughest crowd and the rich & famous (we’ve dined next to quite a few over the years), then it deserves a spot in your big day itinerary. And a note for next year - Dishoom hosts the most legendary outdoor Iftar meals throughout Ramadan, so get that on your to-do list for next time! I once overheard someone describe Eid as "Christmas, but for Muslims", and when you think about it, there's some truth to that! A trip to the theatre sits firmly on many Christmas to-do lists, and imo, Eid should absolutely get this special attention, too! (Granted, perhaps after we've paid all our family visits and stuffed our faces). Let’s be honest, we all grew up loving this absolute hit, so to get dressed up and see the story brought to life with the most incredible music and showmanship, it’s going to be a win-win. There's no other word for it — the photos alone are... mouthwatering. The current 'House special' is Sticky Date Banana Pudding (how fitting?!), and the classic Banana Pudding is always stocked up, sitting in pride of place. Also, matcha lovers: you MUST try the Iced Green Matcha Pudding (£9.50). After days of festivities, a stroll through charismatic streets with my besties (which I can confirm does count as exercise) on the hunt for a delectable dessert in a tub is my actual idea of heaven. I know, it's a bit 'out there'... but Eid celebrations ~should~ be unique and unforgettable. You’ve spent the month focusing on peace, prayer, giving, and learning. To celebrate the wrap-up of a beautiful month and maybe as a reward for dedication and effort, the Thames RIB Experience is a wild and wholesome treat. With the perfect amount of (actually interesting) commentary from the guides, this boat ride is all about the high-speed thrills and not at all the slow, tourist-packed trudge along our dear Thames (all safety measures included with the best-trained staff). Quite possibly THE most “007” way you could possibly celebrate Eid, ever. All with London’s amazing sights mixed in. East London Tickets: Saturday 21st March 12-7 @Leyton Jubilee Park E10 7BL West London Tickets: Sunday 22nd March 12-7 @Byron Park HA7 7PJ If it's a fun day out you're after, and one where you can invite the whole family, your neighbours, friends, and heck, even ~their~ neighbours — this is the one. Smoke & Pepper's co-founders are big on their commitment to local farmers for responsibly sourced ingredients — with a particular love for grass-fed Aberdeen Angus beef (same) — and have built the brand with a brilliant franchise vision, helping others grow through the business, too. Big food with a big heart. Every year, we might be seeing new but also fewer faces around our circle, so really making the most with our loved ones feels more important, year on year. A celebration as humble as your favourite dishes on an extra-large blanket is all you might need. Browse some inspiring Eid-themed recipes here, and on Instagram courtesy of Tasty x Lidl. They've also built an Eid activity pack filled with lots of easy games - all you need to do is download and print! That should keep them calm and focused for a while...
