Ghetts, a popular rapper and Netflix star, won’t be making any albums or filming any new shows for a quite a while after pleading guilty to a hit-and-run that left a 20-year-old man dead. According to multiple reports, the 41-year-old, whose real name is Justin Jude Clarke-Samuel, plead guilty in December after he was charged with causing death by dangerous driving. And, on Tuesday, he received a 12-year sentence for the incident that left Yubin Tamang dead. Prosecutors said Ghetts had been drinking on Oct. 18, 2025 and was one and a half times over the legal limit when the incident occurred. The said he was traveling 70 mph and ran six red lights before he hit Tamang at around 11:33 p.m. Instead of stopping, Ghetts drove to his home eight miles away. “A sentence before plea would have been one of 16 years,” Judge Mark Lucraft told the court. “In my judgement, the aggravating features set out would take the sentence to the top of the identified range of sentence before the mitigating features I’ve identified then bring it down to the sentence that I’ve just indicated, taking into allowance your plea of guilty, a sentence of 12 years imprisonment.” Metro reported that the judge said that Ghetts would serve two-thirds of his sentence before being rereleased on license to serve the remainder. The rapper also cannot legally drive for 16 years. Lucraft also noted Ghetts status in his community. Your music has provided you with a following and with significant financial reward and I acknowledge that you have used both the music and the money it has given you to good effect and have done much to support many others,” he said. “As you set out, you have done much to help others over the last 10 years and all that good work is marred by driving in drink and taking the life of another young man.” Read the original article on lehighvalleylive.com.
