The Northeast is being hammered with a major snowstorm. Travel was at a standstill as snow pelted the Big Apple. The bomb cyclone was expected to drop as much as two feet of snow in many areas. Hundreds of thousands of people were without power. Mass transit had been shut down or was working on a limited schedule. “The combination of heavy snowfall and strong winds will continue to produce blizzard conditions along the Northeastern Seaboard,” the National Weather Service said Monday. “Sharply reduced visibility will make travel extremely treacherous across these areas.” Travel conditions were considered "nearly impossible."
